Let’s Talk homemade creams and body butters. I started looking for ways to create body butter blends at home. There is one recipe I particularly love. Not only because it is super hydrating and natural, but also because I could tailor it to my skins needs. Essential oils really allow you to tailor each cream to what your skin is in need of. I personally needed a cream for my legs to help with circulation. Since I am prone to spider veins, I created a blend that I now cannot live with out. I hope it can help you as much as it has me.
- 1/2 cup Shea Butter (organic, raw, and unrefined)
- 1/4 cup coconut oil (organic and cold pressed) If you like a less oily blend you can choose to reduce the amount of coconut oil.
- 1/4 cup Jojoba oil (organic, cold press and unrefined)
- 1 tablespoon Vitamin E oil
- 10 drops of cypress essential oil, 10 drops of lemongrass essential oil, 5 drops of Rosemary essential oil, 10 drops of Helichrysum essential oil.
Heat the Shea butter and Coconut oil in a double boiler on medium low heat. Once it melts remove from heat. Let cool and then add the Jojoba oil, Vitamin E oil and all essential oils. Refrigerate for 2 hours, remove and then whip. Store in glass container. It should be good for up to 6 months.
The aroma of this body butter is strong, because it contains very powerful essential oils. However, it penetrates into the skin to promote circulation and does an excellent job of hydrating as well!
Enjoy!
